Accommodation and Facilities

Larriberau has been lovingly restored retaining all its French charm, beams and large fireplaces, whilst providing all modern comforts. The rooms are spacious. All bedrooms have fans, and the shutters in high summer, traditionally shut during the day, keep the house with its thick walls, surprisingly cool.

We have a downstairs bedroom for those who find stairs difficult, close to the shower room and separate cloakroom. For more details please call/text/email. We can provide two cots, high chairs, and both staircases have stair gates. All bedrooms have hanging cupboards, with shelf space or chests of drawers, and fans, and most have views over the pool to the beautiful landscape beyond.

Bedrooms

Bedroom 1: has a kingsize double bed, and is ensuite, with views over the garden, pool, and landscape beyond.

Bedroom 2: has a kingsize 4 poster bed with ensuite, and views over the garden and pool to the rolling countryside beyond.

Bedroom 3: is a very pretty single bedroom, with pretty french bed, ensuite and views over lovely landscape.

In the wing up a separate staircase:

Bedroom 6: is a very beamed room, and has two single beds.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms:Three bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, with baths/shower attachments, loo  and basins.

The 4th bathroom is situated between bedrooms 5 and 6 in the wing. Again bath. loo and basin.

The separate shower room and separate cloakroom are convenient for both bedroom 4 and the downstairs bedroom.

Kitchen

The kitchen has an original bread oven (fully displayed but not in use!) complete with bread paddle and yes, an imitation baguette! , beams and large working chimney. This room usefully faces directly on to the pool making it ideal for watching everything going on outside.

The room has a large pine kitchen/breakfast table with provencal chairs. Dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, gas/electric cooker, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, and micro wave on request.

Breakfast in the kitchen is always a moveable feast and the kitchen at Larriberau is always a great gathering place.

A small room off the kitchen houses a washing machine, iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner.

The Salon/Library

The salon is an elegant and very comfortable room, with beams and a large log burning stove (for those late sping or early autumn evenings when a fire may be very welcome), in a large open fireplace. (logs provided)

Two squashy sofas, coffee table, 3-seater french seat, two comfortable armchairs-plenty of seating for everyone.

We love our books, and there is a good cross-section in the library to browse through. Previous guests have remarked on the eclectic range we have here.

Views to the pool and beyond to that beautiful landscape.

TV, CD, DVD, Stereo.

Salle a Manger

In the downstairs part of the wing, a large tiled dining room with very long table seating up to 18,(in case you have friends in the area to lunch?!) with "banquette" seating down one side, and then chairs.

French TV, and music system, with cassettes.

The salle a manger is very accessible for those with limited mobility.

Games Barn

Table tennis, table football, and small billiard table.

Garden and Pool

The garden at Larriberau is enhanced by the magnificent 400 year old oak trees, which provide natural shade for shade lovers. The terrace (with automatic lighting at night) is where you will find a long table, 12 chairs and barbecue. The table is strategically placed so that those who like to eat (and drink!) without the sun beaming in their face, can do so. Whilst the sun lovers are very happily placed as well. The pool can be seen from the terrace. There is an additional seating area with benches under the oaks, looking directly on to the pool, with a pretty sundial, pots of overflowering geraniums, and which is rather a good place to enjoy your aperitif, Floc de Gascogne? The evening light from various different parts of the garden is stunning.

Then after dinner and then late in to the night, do a bit of star gazing in to the big skies.

The pool 12 x 6 metres, is alarmed, and is serviced weekly. It has a "roman escalier" end, which is ideal for smaller people, and for their grown ups! to sit, chat, and contemplate. This area of garden that encompasses the pool is fenced, and reached though an attractive gate.
