Activities

Water Park: Visit the aqua park at LUDINA in Mirande, situated shortly after reaching Mirande (6kms) on the left hand side as you enter the town, on the route de Tarbes. Very accessible, and great fun. Open from 11.15am until 8pm.

Golf: Tillac has an excellent golf course and restaurant. At Auch there is Golf d'Embats, with a restaurant that is very well thought of.

Cycling: Bicycles can be hired at the Lac de Seissan-this is great biking country. Details at Larriberau.

Tennis: Just across the valley at Loubersan-again, details for access to the court, at Larriberau.

Walking: Such a great pastime. A folder of good  "sentiers"  is to be found at Larriberau. Otherwise just walk out of the drive and start walking!

Fishing: Can be very good in the Pyrenees. Details at Larriberau.

Riding: Please find details at Larriberau.

Bull Fighting and night markets at Vic Fezensac (30 minutes by car).

Thermal baths at Lectoure and also Castera Verduzan. Both about 40 minutes. Wise to book.

Tourist Offices at Mirande near the Cathedral, and Auch, again near the Cathedral.

The Pyrenees: The scenery is lovely in all seasons. Aside from the ski-ing-an early summer trip across Tourmalet between La Mongie and Barreges takes you across the highest pass in France (the Tour de France takes this strenuous route in July). The Cirque de Gavarnie is also impressive in late spring and early summer.

Spain: The tunnel on the road leading to Spain from Lannemezan is under 2 hours distant from Larriberau. The Ordessa National Park is one of the best kept secrets of continental Europe.

The Atlantic Coast: St Jean de Luz via the autoroute from Lannemezan or Tarbes makes the journey no more than a couple of hours, and very do-able for a day trip. Biarritz was hugely fashionable in Edwardian times, and now sometimes plays host to surfing championships.

The Mediterranean: This is further, and the drive takes 3-4 hours. Carcassone on your left as you drive towards the Mediterranean, is a hugely impressive sight. A trip to the Med is best arranged with an overnight stop, but also to be avoided in high summer, as numerous campsites swell the population, and the roads are swamped.
